The Ultimate Road Hazard Guide

If You Are Going To Offer A Road Hazard Program, Choose One That Is… Easy-To-Sell, Simple-To-Manage, And Satisfies The Customer’s Need For Trust As an active tire dealer, you may either have your own road hazard program, or you may not sell road hazard protection at all. But if you have ever experienced frustration with stamps inventory, claims hassles, sales training, or even difficult market conditions that make selling a road hazard program to your customer a challenge, take 90 seconds to review this Sonsio Road Hazard Program to see if these three critical characteristics matter to you:

1) Simplified Stamps

Each stamp allows coverage of tires based on the original tire price on the purchase date. A covered tire will be replaced according to the Program parameters when damaged by valid road hazard, while the tread depth remaining is more than 2/32 of an inch. The Program also covers flat repairs and mounting, balancing, valve stems and disposal up to the specified Program limits.

2) One Toll-Free Number Provides Answers

Dealers participating in our programs have just one number to call to file a claim, check on the status of an existing claim, order additional stamps, and obtain training and other assistance.

3) Training + Education = Guaranteed Success

Stamps don’t sell themselves. The Road Hazard Program will help educate and train your people to drive dollars to your bottom-line, regardless of your market, your staff, or your volume. This program is geared to make the entire process easier. Dealers will be offered considerable assistance in training their staffs as well as making system changes to ensure optimum profitability from the Road Hazard Program.

4) Fast and Easy Claims Process

You may have heard of other programs that make you jump through a nasty set of hoops before they accept your claim. Our Road Hazard Program is different! It takes 5 minutes to gather the necessary information and file a claim. That’s it!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Sonsio?

Sonsio is North America’s largest provider of automobile-related aftermarket warranties. We currently have over 50 Million vehicles under warranty and provide nationwide road hazard coverage on more than 38 million tires and wheels. Our service provider network is 30,211 and growing.

How does the stamp work?

We buy the coverage stamps from Sonsio and sell them to the customer as part of a total tire package. The stamps are affixed to the customer’s copy of the repair order when tires are purchased.

What if the customer loses the paperwork?

The only record of coverage under the Road Hazard Program is the original invoice with the road hazard stamps affixed. Without the invoice and stamps, no coverage is available. We can retain a copy of the customer’s completed sale invoice at the time of the purchase. In the event the customer is in need of assistance, but has lost their paperwork, we could provide them a copy of their original invoice showing the road hazard stamps.

Can we sell the Road Hazard Program on OE tires?

Yes. Create a new sales invoice with the complete customer information, vehicle information, tire information including the DOT numbers, and the quantity of road hazard stamps being purchased. The invoice must state that the road hazard stamps are being sold on OE tires.

What can’t road hazard protection be sold on?

The Road Hazard Program cannot be sold to cover agricultural vehicles, construction vehicles, off-road use vehicles, vehicles used for hire (e.g., taxi, limousine, etc.) emergency or postal service, and vehicles with a manufacturer’s load rating greater that one-ton.

What if only one tire is sold, how do you know which one is covered?

By the DOT number. The DOT number of the tire(s) must be recorded on the original invoice at the time the Road Hazard Program is purchased.

What is the reimbursement?

It is based on what the customer paid for the tire originally.

How does the claims process work?

We call the toll-free number for the Road Hazard Program. We provide the claims tire technician with the required information. Sonsio gives us a claim number. We submit the documentation required.
